IMPORTANT DETAILS

I SHOOT HEADSHOTS AND PUBLICITY SESSIONS IN THE STUDIO, mornings and afternoons, weekends included.

I DON’T CHARGE BY “LOOKS”.  Headshot sessions take three hours; publicity sessions run longer. I don’t watch the clock – we’ll know when we’ve got what we need. It’s okay to change outfits as we work, but I suggest not overdoing it. Your clothes won’t get you the job.

BRING MORE CLOTHING THAN YOU NEED -- most importantly tops, shirts and jackets.  Everything should be clean, fairly new or in good shape. The more you bring, the more there is to choose from. Avoid white tops (except for wearing them beneath something else). Avoid bold patterns and anything with a logo. We have clothing racks and a steamer at the studio.

PLEASE ARRIVE FOR YOUR SESSION ON TIME, with clean hair but without makeup.

AFTERWARD

THREE BUSINESS DAYS AFTER THE SESSION, you’ll receive a virtual contact sheet of edited images AND the images as well: a set of 100 to 250 frames, depending on the session type. All images will have been processed (color-balanced and adjusted for optimal viewing). After you receive the edit, I’ll help you with the final selections.

RETOUCHING ISN’T INCLUDED, but you may not need it. Adjustments to your select set already will have been made, and more will be made to your final selections. If you feel retouching is needed, we’ll discuss the work you have in mind, and I’ll send your select images to my retoucher, -- one of the best in the business – for an estimate.

As someone who’s held countless casting sessions for commercial work — and reviewed 50,000 headshots — I suggest you go easy on the retouching. A little enhancement is okay, but casting directors need to see you as you are and won’t be pleased if you don’t look like your headshot.

WHERE’S THE STUDIO?

At The Brewery, the artists’ complex in downtown L.A., off Main Street, east of Chinatown and Dodger Stadium: 620 Moulton Avenue, #114, Los Angeles 90031.

FROM MOULTON

turn left into the Brewery. Straight ahead is Barbara’s at the Brewery, the local café. Studio 114 is to the left of Barbara’s. The access to #114  is a loading dock, with “620” over the entry.

Park in one of the lots to either side of Barbara’s. Call 213 280-0805. We’ll come out to help you bring in your wardrobe.

CAN WE SPEAK PRIOR TO MY SESSION?

Of course! 213 280-0805.

DO I NEED TO BOOK THE HAIR AND MAKEUP ARTIST MYSELF?

No. It’s taken care of when you book your session.

CAN I BRING MY OWN HAIR AND MAKEUP ARTIST?

Yes, but that person must be a professional and stay for the duration of your shoot.

CAN I DO MY OWN HAIR AND MAKEUP?

NO, for several reasons. One: styling for the camera is its own discipline. Two: as the subject, you can’t keep an eye on your own hair and makeup while being photographed. The stylist will do just that.

WHAT ABOUT COVID SAFETY PROTOCOLS?

During your visit HoMEDICS TotalClean Air Purifiers, with UV light that kills up to 99.9% of bacteria and viruses, will be active.

Please postpone if you’re not feeling well prior to the shoot, and/or experiencing flu-like symptoms – the sniffles, a fever, a headache, a cough.  If you are, please call us as soon as possible: 213 280-0805.

CAN I BRING MY OWN MUSIC?

Of course. The studio sound system can handle Bluetooth and CDs.

WILL I BE ABLE TO SEE MY PICTURES DURING THE SESSION?

Yes! We’ll take regular breaks to review our progress.
